Tristram was familiar to some of the older residents of our community. He was a much loved brother to John, and son of Anthony Powell (author of A Dance to the Music of Time) and Lady Violet (literary biographer). The family moved to The Chantry in 1952, and it is still John's home.
Tristram married Virginia Lucas in 1968, and they have 2 children, Georgia and Archie.
Our heartfelt sympathies to the whole family.

Powell also formed a professional partnership with Alan Bennett that began with an episode in the writer’s monologue series Talking Heads (1988). "Soldiering On" featured Stephanie Cole as an elderly charity worker facing life after her husband’s death.
He then directed Penelope Wilton in Nights in the Gardens of Spain for the sequel, Talking Heads 2 (1998).
Tristram and Virginia gradually converted the stables/coach house of The Chantry into a family home. Their frequent visits with their young children to Chantry over this time were a great pleasure to his parents, and most especially to Lady Violet.
